Physical Health

What is PH? When we say we’re physically healthy, what do we mean? That we’re free from illness or injury? Or is there more to it than that? There are multiple definitions, but one way of putting it is that PH is my body’s overall condition, meaning our organs and systems function well, we have energy for daily tasks, and we are free from significant illness or injury. Its about our physical ability to live, grow, and move. Physical ill-health could refer to diseases or conditions that affect the body and cause limitations. It can be chronic or acute and can be caused by a variety of factors including : Genetics, Lifestyle choices, environmental factors etc.

How to take care of Physical Fitness?

To take care of our Physical Fitness, lets aim for regular moderate aerobic activities, plus strength training. This needs to be balanced with rest, staying hydrated, eating healthy, getting around 7hrs of healthy sleep, and reducing sedentary lifestyle. Lets keep getting regular health checks done .

Mental Health

Mental health is an integral and essential component of health. The WHO constitution states: "Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." An important implication of this definition is that mental health is more than just the absence of mental disorders or disabilities.

Mental health is a state of well-being in which an individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and is able to make a contribution to his or her community.

Mental health is fundamental to our collective and individual ability as humans to think, emote, interact with each other, earn a living and enjoy life. On this basis, the promotion, protection and restoration of mental health can be regarded as a vital concern of individuals, communities and societies throughout the world.

Promotion & Prevention

We spread awareness on Mental Health in the society so that this is not treated as a taboo. Just as we openly tell when we fracture our arm, I should be able to openly say that I have anxiety. I should be able to understand when I feel burnout or am having a panic attack.

Symptoms of Anxiety

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) says: The way a person responds both internally and externally to their anxiety will vary greatly. In general, anxiety symptoms and signs can be grouped into four categories

Thinking
this may include interrupted thought processes as well as an internal dialogue about the anxiety itself.
• Racing mind, too many thoughts and worries
• Going blank or frozen thoughts
• Repetitious or intrusive thoughts
• Inability to concentrate or being distracted
• Indecision or changing of mind
• Confusion or disorientation
• Trouble remembering or recalling memories
• Vivid or upsetting dreams
